On July 28th, 2011, Opportunities Inc. will celebrate its 45th Anniversary and showcase the completion of its 6 million dollar agency reinvestment; ensuring the continued advancement of community and commercial services that provide training, employment and empowerment for individuals with disabilities and other life barriers throughout Southern Wisconsin. This will be an exciting evening to acknowledge the positive growth in the community’s workforce due to Opportunities, Inc’s innovative programs and business building initiatives.  Recognition will be given to the community members served through the agency, as well as, the foremost private and public sector partnerships that have evolved over the past four decades.

The formal fundraiser will include a social hour beginning at 5:30 pm, with Best Events Catering serving delectable refreshments at 6:00 pm; outstanding musical entertainment by The Main Street Big Band; and an opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of the agency’s mission, as the backdrop of the event will be the newly built 80,000 square feet training and production facility located at 100 East Cramer Street in Fort Atkinson.

Governor Scott Walker has been invited to deliver the key note address and Sports Director for FOX6 News, Tom Pipines, will be the Master of Ceremonies. A presentation is also planned for 7:00 pm, to celebrate the core values of the agency, which include; Commitment, Choice, Collaboration and Community.

With the present debate in the state of Wisconsin centering on several subjects relevant to Opportunities, Inc., such as job creation initiatives, Medicaid Funding, and clean energy; what a perfect time for this event to transpire, and unite the community in celebration for the special citizens that have been empowered by its mission for 45 years!

The relaxed atmosphere will surely entice relationship building for those who have differing backgrounds and political viewpoints and foster an awareness of the myriad of programs available for individuals with disabilities and other life barriers; emphasizing the positive outcomes that are revealed every day at the agency. Furthermore, education and enlightenment will flourish among guests as open dialogue and social networking are cultivated throughout the evening.  Finally, the importance of the mission of Opportunities, Inc. and cause for its sustainability will be assured when an entire community joins together in celebration of its success!

BIg Band PosterThe Lake Mills Main Street Program is presenting a free concert featuring Lake Mills own “Main Street Big Band” on Friday, August 6. The show will be held at the gazebo downtown in Commons Park from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Everyone is encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy the music under the stars.

The “Main Street Big Band,” lead by Harold Van Ommeren, is an 18 piece big band that plays jazz, rock, pop, blues, swing and bebop. Since 2003 the band has played all over south-eastern Wisconsin, including the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee and the Walworth County Fair. For more information go to www.MainStreetBigBand.com.
