The Lake Mills Main Street Program Farmers’ Market will feature a seasonal cooking demo on Wednesday, August 11 at 6:00 pm. The demonstration will be in the gazebo in Common’s Park. Chef Greg Carpenter, owner of Carp’s Landing in Lake Mills will be the featured presenter.Carps Landing Greg

Originally from Lake Mills, Carpenter has worked in the restaurant business for over 25 years, locally and in many other areas of the US. Known for his in-house smoked items at Carp’s Landing, Carpenter brings the flavors of Arizona, Hawaii, Colorado, Florida and Alaska to his dishes.

The Farmers’ Market features a cooking demonstration the second Wednesday of each month (weather permitting) at 6:00 pm through the end of the market in October. The next market, on August 18, will feature booths for nonprofit businesses and organizations. Any one wishing to participate in that market should contact the Main Street office.

Every Wednesday from 2 pm until dusk Commons Park in downtown Lake Mills comes alive with fresh, local produce, baked goods, crafts and more.

Correctly give the location of the building pictured and be placed in a drawing for a $25 Chamber Gift Certificate. $1 to enter. Contest forms will be given out at 4:00 at the information tent, you will have two hours to find the buildings. Happy hunting!

Our annual Witches Night Out -  trick or treating with downtown merchants -  will be held during the market. Hours are 4 to 6, at 6:00 there will be a costume parade around the park. Prizes for best costumes will be awarded.

Local residents and non-profit organizations are incouraged to participate in the event by “Trunk or Treating.” Park your vehicle in one of the non-diagonal spots downtown and give out treats from your trunk. Get in the spirit by decorating your trunk and wearing a costume!

Who would you like to toss a rotten vegetable at? Email your vote to jill@lakemillsmainstreet.org, top vote getters will have the honor of having their face pasted on a great vegetable body and people can purchase rotten vegetable to toss at them!

But there’s more! Are you growing a huge vegetable in your garden? Then you need to enter it in our Big Veg Contest. We have four catagories: Pumpkin (weight), Squash (length), Tomato (weight) and most unusual (judges choice). Or how about a cool all vegetable or fruit sculpture? Adult & kids categories, toothpicks or skewers for construction only.

After he contest winners are announce there will be a flower arranging demo put on by Dutch Designs!
