If you’re already counting the days until the Lake Mills Farmers’ Market opens up in May of 2012, never fear – we have just the event to tide you over!

Some of your favorite Lake Mills Farmers’ Market vendors will gather on Saturday, December 10 for the First Annual Winter Market. The hallways and Community Room of the Lake Mills City Hall will be bursting with food products, jewelry, scarves, rugs and other crafts. You’ll be able to stock up on kettle corn, fudge, and honey. You’ll marvel over hand-painted feathers, and of course, satisfy your java cravings at Glory Beans (they will have gift baskets too!). Hot food and more will be available.

Enjoy a cooking demonstration at 11am with Erica Sanders, Dietician at Watertown Regional Medical Center, on preparing Healthy Appetizers for Holiday Parties.

The Lake Mills City Band will be performing classic Christmas tunes from the second floor balcony at 1:30pm.

Trivia Poster

Our 2nd annual small team trivia  contest will start at 6:00 at the gazebo in Commons Park.

Teams can have must have four to six players; each player pays $5 to play. Prizes will be given to the top three teams. In case of rain the contest will take place in the Lake Mills Community Center (City Hall) 200 Water St.

Teams will play five rounds with eight general trivia questions per round. The questions will be given verbally and repeated twice. Each team turns in one answer sheet. The team with the most correct answers overall wins. In the event of a tie, there will be a tie breaker round of three questions. All money raised will go to the Lake Mills Main Street Program. Chocolate PosterDo you have a “killer” chocolate recipe? If so, enter it in the Lake Mills Main Street Program’s Death By Chocolate Baking Contest on May 25th. The event will take place during the weekly Farmers Market.

There are five categories for adults: cake, brownies, cookies, bars and other. There are two categories for kids (12 and younger), cookies and brownies. This is for amateur bakers only and all items must be home made.  Download the registration form here: Chocolate Rules & Registration

Entries will be judged on appearance, texture and flavor. A copy of the recipe, must accompany the entry. Recipes may be published, with proper credit given.

Judging will begin at 5:15 pm at the gazebo; winners will be announced at approximately 6:00pm. First place ribbons will be awarded for each category, Grand Champion and Reserve Champion will be selected from the first place winners.  The entries will be auctioned off after the winners are announced, with half of the proceeds going to the Lake Mills Main Street Program to be used to promote & enhance the Farmers’ Market and half to the baker.
