Thursday August 27 (7pm), free.

Water House Foods Cafe & Bakehouse located at 110 East Lake Street, Lake Mills, Wisconsin will host another Open Mic Night.

This August will be still be an open forum & workshop for poets, songmakers, and writers of all ages, styles, and levels, but we will have a featured group performing: Insight. Emily and Emma met in church in 1999, when Emma was three and Emily was two. From there, their friendship began, and life progressed. It was when they were six they started to perform in community theater, and music became an important role in their life. Emily continued in musical theater, and when Emma turned ten she started playing guitar. Ever since Emma was a young child she was inspired by the sweet melody of her dad’s acoustic guitar, and hoped that only one day she could be just like him.  Emily has been singing since she was three and has enjoyed performing arts for as long as she can remember. As far as Insight goes, it all started on Emma’s twelfth birthday when she received her first acoustic guitar. From there Emma started to write her own music, and was inspired to start a duet with her best friend Emily. When Insight first began, the only song Emma knew how to play on her guitar was Knocking On Heavens Door, by Bob Dylan. This song became Insight’s first debut piece. Currently at ages 13 and 12, Insight has blossomed in the last six months as the duet started performing publicly.

Ephraim Faience Pottery will kick off their Grand Opening Celebration on Thursday, June 25, with a ribbon cutting ceremony starting at 10 am. The public and local businesses are invited to attend, and demonstrations and tours of the renovated facility will follow. Coffee and snacks will be served. Tours end at noon.

The Ephraim Faience Pottery studio moved into their permanent location in the lower level of the old Municipal Building in March of this year. The Ephraim Faience Pottery Studio Gallery preceded the pottery’s move and opened last summer on the corner of the Lake and Church location. Prior to the move, the pottery, now in its twelfth year, was located in rural Deerfield.

Ephraim Faience Pottery creates fine art pottery in the Arts and Crafts tradition. People from all over America have begun to travel to Lake Mills to visit the Gallery and see the largest selection of this renowned studio’s works.

The Grand Opening weekend will feature tours of the pottery on Saturday June 27 following the Founder’s Day Parade and running until 4:00 pm. The community will have a rare opportunity to see the inner workings of this nationally recognized pottery in its renovated new home. Members of the Ephraim Faience Pottery Collector’s Society will also be in attendance in conjunction with the group’s second annual conference.

Ephraim Pottery President, Kevin Hicks, is very pleased and impressed with the welcome that Ephraim Pottery has received from the community. “People in Lake Mills have thanked us for moving here and participating in the renovation of the Old Municipal Building. Several people who have come into the Gallery have said how proud they are that such beautiful objects are being made in their home town. Ephraim Pottery is pleased and proud to be part of such a welcoming community and we hope to be here for many years to come. “
