On Tuesday, August 3rd, the Lake Mills Police department is inviting you to the fourth annual “National Night Out Against Crime” event located at the Lake Mills High School from 6:00pm until 8:30pm. The event is free to the public. Watch the UW MedFlight Helicopter land and take off, see the EMS demonstration with paramedic intercept, take advantage of free health screenings, and much more including face and wound painting, car seat checks, refreshments and music.

At 6:00 Kim Grunow from Rock River Canoes in Jefferson will do a demo on how to make a Rain Barrel. Some of the other businesses you will see there that day include: Oskri Foods, made in Lake Mills with renewable energy; John Dolan with a plug-in Prius from Smart Toyota; Sarah Hein, Shakely; and Len Verkuilen from Welty Environmental Educational Center with info for kids and adults about aquatic ecosystems (from 5 to 7 pm).

The Lake Mills Band will perform at 7pm.

Every Wednesday from 2 pm until dusk Commons Park in downtown Lake Mills comes alive with fresh, local produce, baked goods, crafts and more.

The Lake Mills Main Street Program is presenting a free concert featuring Lake Mills own “Main Street Big Band” on Friday, August 6. The show will be held at the gazebo downtown in Commons Park from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Everyone is encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy the music under the stars.

The “Main Street Big Band,” lead by Harold Van Ommeren, is an 18 piece big band that plays jazz, rock, pop, blues, swing and bebop. Since 2003 the band has played all over south-eastern Wisconsin, including the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee and the Walworth County Fair. For more information go to www.MainStreetBigBand.com.
